2205 Plate is also the most widely used type due to its yield strength that is almost double that of other austenitic steel types. ASTM A240 Type 2205 Plate Material has better fatigue strength and better resistance to stress corrosion cracking. ASTM A240 Gr 2205 SS Plate is resistant to crevice corrosion attack, pitting corrosion, erosion and other harsh conditions.

SA 240 Type 2205 Duplex Stainless Steel Plate is used in marine applications where chloride ion concentration is higher. SA 240 TP 2205 Stainless Steel Plate is used in effluent scrubbing systems and in biofuel plants. Chemical processing, pressure vessels, tanks, piping and heat exchangers all use SA 240 GR 2205 Duplex Steel Plate or other forms due to their high mechanical properties under high pressure and their resistance against organic and inorganic acid corrosions.

2205 Stainless Steel Sheet could be used in cargo tanks, truck and in ships as sheeting material as it has high tensile stress and low thermal expansion rates. 2205 Duplex Sheet is cost effective because it provides high strength under lower weights compared to other types of austenitic steel.
